Clear Aligners
What is it?
Clear aligner therapy is used for patients with mild to moderate orthodontic abnormalities (“skew teeth”). A series of transparent, plastic orthodontic devices. They are also called "invisible braces."
How long are the treatment appointments?
30-minute appointments every two weeks or every six weeks, depending on the patient.
How is clear aligner therapy performed?
The patient is given a new clear aligner every two weeks. Each new aligner moves the teeth slightly towards our end goal.
What results can I expect?
Straighter teeth (and whiter teeth if you choose the teeth whitening add-on). The results we expect from treatment will be shown to you by means of a virtual simulation before you accept treatment.
Is the treatment painful, and are there any side effects?
It is a very comfortable procedure with no downtime. Aligner therapy is used the whole day while you go about your everyday life and is only removed for 2 hours a day to eat. Adverse events are very rare. That being said, we always treat each patient with the utmost care, so high-risk patients are referred to a specialist orthodontist for treatment.
Advantages of clear aligner therapy (as compared to “traditional metal braces”):
- Removable.
- Easy and effortless to maintain oral hygiene.
- Comfortable and less likely to poke and irritate cheeks.
- Prevents damage caused by grinding.
- No metal wires.
- It can easily wear without people noticing.
- No food restrictions (due to being removable).
Who is a candidate for clear aligner therapy?
- Mild to moderate cases (crowding or spacing).
- Patients who need treatment are to be done in phases.
- Patients who have foreseeable interruptions in treatment.
- Motivated patients who can comply with treatment guidelines.
This treatment is not suitable for (not limited to):
- Advanced cases of crowding and spacing
- Unmotivated patients will find it difficult to stick to treatment guidelines.
What happens if I still need a revision after I have completed my clear aligner course?
The number of free revisions available will be determined by the package chosen.
