Botulinum Toxin
What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botox is used to eradicate lines and wrinkles related to movement and works by relaxing the contraction of certain facial muscles, thereby smoothing out the overlying skin.
How long is the treatment appointment?
Appointments typically last 20-30 minutes.
How is Botulinum Toxin delivered/administered?
Botulinum toxin is delivered by means of an injection intramuscularly (in the muscle) or subcutaneously (under the skin).
What results can I expect?
A more relaxed appearance with younger, smoother-looking skin. The results typically last four months. We recommend follow-up treatments every 4 months to maintain the anti-ageing benefits of botulinum toxin.
Is the treatment painful, and are there any side effects?
Botulinum injections involve such tiny needles that the treatment is virtually painless. There may be some temporary redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites. Serious side effects and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare.
Who is a good candidate?
Anyone over the age of 18 who has wrinkles forming on the upper half of the face due to constant repetition of expressions is a good candidate for this treatment. The results look natural, and getting started early in life can even prevent wrinkles from forming in the first place.
